Our straw duck pub is an excellent example of the creativity master thatcher’s sometimes employed in their work. Thatched roofs are a common sight throughout many areas of the world and have been considered an excellent and inexpensive building material. Perhaps more than anywhere else, in England, these roofs carry a deeply romantic presence in both art and literature. For centuries thatcher’s have competed in this decorative art – some even creating animals or objects of whimsy to showcase their skill.
